| By spring, 2004, Lipstick Conspiracy
put the finishing touches on their debut CD, "Don't Tell
A Soul" with Budz and the rest of the personnel at Potrero
Post, San Francisco. The recording was made available
in June, 2004. Analysis of this project can be found in
the Evidence
segment of this document. |
|
| Lipstick Conspiracy achieved
new strides during the summer of 2004. Their audience
base increased dramtically following their stellar performances
at Bay Area Pride festivals, their penetration of the
local media, and the addition of a fifth member, Emme
Yarwood. |
|
| Shortly after June, Lipstick
Conspiracy began to ride a new wave of notoriety largely
fuelled by the fact that the San Francisco Bay Guardian
named them the BEST GIRL BAND 2004 for the Best of the
Bay. This distinction drastically increased their social
capital, which was demonstrated when PlanetOut named them
the Featured Artist, and documented elements of their
history. |
|
| The remainder of 2004 saw the
"band with the plan" continually on the run.
Though they are difficult to obtain on radar, they can
be heard on radio (notably KZSU 90.1FM, KFJC 89.7FM in
the San Francisco Bay Area, various stations along the
Pacific west coast, numerous Internet radio programs,
and international stations in locales as far flung as
Mexico, Serbia and Canada). They are skilled at remaining
in the periphery, desite efforts to confound. |
