Dossier - Lipstick Conspiracy
year, as the girls have been recognized as pioneers in the so-called "transgendered rock explosion," according to New York Producer and songwriter, Robert Urban. Spring of 2005 also witnessed the first leg of Lipstick Conspiracy's national tour, reportedly titled "Northwest Passage - Miniskirts & Minibars." Eager friends, fans and fellow-conspirators were made in Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene and Portland. The mini-tour was capped with another round of performances in the Bay Area, including a featured slot on the first-ever transgendered stage at San Francisco Pride, a spotlight feature in the comprehensive online GLBTQ Encyclopedia project, and being named Transgendered Favorite Musician 2005 for the Stonewall Society's Pride in the Arts Awards.
October 2005, another milestone, as the girls graced the cover of the East Bay Express and reportedly retreated to a secret location to determine "the future." Buddy Saleman, producer of "Don't Tell a Soul," was brought in to manage the band and help secure further success for 2006. Recording arrangements were made and the girls ended 2005 in pre-production for the new album. Hitting the ground and running in 2006, Lipstick Conspiracy won the first round of the international Emergenza battle of the bands, and is prepared to advance to the next round. Another historical first for "America's premiere trans band." The world just changed.
The girls of Lipstick Conspiracy are rumored to be armed and extremely fabulous.
End Report. January, 2006.
